OCTOPUS FOR DINNER

Octopus for dinner. Nothing beats travelling and adventuring off the grid for a while.

Reflecting back on this trip from a year ago. Eating the fish we caught out the front of our wooden hut, the vegetables from the market at the end of the street, and the rice grown in Pedro’s backyard. A 77 year old man who is single but has 13 nieces and nephews that keep him busy. He has a little business selling fresh coconuts to the travellers that stay in the community. At the age of 23 he fell out of a coconut tree and broke his back and hips, and being so removed from the modern society he couldn’t do anything about it, but let it heal the way it did. Most nights we’d sit on the empty beach together. Pedro would teach me his language whilst watching the local fisherman come in from sea and the children learn to ride horses bareback over sunset.

These are the moments I chase.

Travel... it leaves you always craving more.

Every place, every trip, every person is a new adventure.
